With particular life experience, the fifth generation of directors has their own p ursuit of nationalization in their artistic styles. Their films combine skillfully the tradition with modernity, not only inheriting the long standing cultural essence of Chinese films but also highlighting the aesthetic styles throughout C hinese films, which displays their pursuit and creation of film artistic concepts. They integrated successfully their emphasis on artistic beauty, their understanding of artistic concept theory and their inheritance of their predecessors’ aesthetic thoughts into their creating films. They created an artistic concept imbued with national features by employing the traditional images, localized narative devices and modern audio- visual language. In their fimls, expression and recreation, reality and fiction, grace and grandeur complement each other nicely. This is undoubtedly an inspiration for the current development of Chinese films.
