LvFengzi(1886-1959)is a famous Chinese artist and art educator in the 20th century. His artisti c achievement involves many areas such as painting, calligraphy, seal cutting, poetry, art history an d art theory,etc. Lv was admitted to the Department of painting and handwork in LianJiang Normal school in the year 1906, to become one of China’s first art teachers in modern times. After graduati on,he was engaged in art education for more than fifty years to practice of hisart education ideal. Lv’s practice of art education can be divided into two parts:one is teaching at schools all over China,and the other is founding a a private school in his hometown. In his life of art education, he cultivated a large number of outstanding artists, educators and professionals of various types, such as Xu Beihong, Liu Haisu, Zhang Anzhi, Yang Shouyu, Zhang Shuqi, Li Keran and other famous artists.Lv Fengzi was accepted into the school of traditional Confucian education,andbecame a scholar at a young age, and later he went to the new school, his knowledge structure was a combination of the old and the new, not only did he has the profound knowledge of traditional culture Chinese, but also had a deep understanding of the Western Philosophy,thus formed a unique art education thoughts of his own.The art research papers and monographs of Lv are abundant, but the study of Lv Fengzi’s art education has not been given due attention, we can see from Lv Fengzi’s life experience, education is his greatest ideal of life, so the systematic study on his art education is necessary.This research studies Lv Fengzi’s family background and early school days,his teaching events around the country and his education practice, his art education thoughts and art education achievement. This paper takes time as the order and is problem oriented. On the basis of analyzing the collected data, the research focuses on solving the problemsSuch as the family name and title of Lv Fengzi,why he drop outfrom the Suzhou military school, when he taught at Beijing female school, whether he was hired on the painting seminar of Beijing University,and other problems such as he was a founder of Datong weekly, "poor society" and ShenZhou art society. Because on these problems,the writer got some new data that our predecessors did not explored andhad not specificly studiedand where there are all kinds of contradictory versions of conclusion.
