Aggression can be divided into proactive aggression and reactive aggression.Proactive aggressive behavior is defined that aggressive behavior about individuals who launch without irritation by others. The influencing factors of aggressive behavior are numerous. Personality is a very important factor, which has positive influence or negative influence in aggressive behavior. What’s more, clues(such as pictures of weapon, violent media, violent video games and aggressive words) can prime the aggressive thoughts or aggressive behavior of individuals. Compared with susceptibility factors of aggressive behavior, the research about protecting factors of aggressive behavior is relatively few. Interpersonal self-support is an indigenous Chinese personality construct, it is considered as a protective personality factor about mental health, which may be more suitable for Chinese people. It contains five different traits, such as interpersonal independence(the tendency and ability to deal with interpersonal activities or problems independently), interpersonal initiative(the tendency to initiate affiliations with other individuals), interpersonal responsibility(the tendency to be faithful and truthful to others), interpersonal flexibility(the tendency to deal with interpersonal events contingently and flexibly) and interpersonal openness(the tendency to accept other individuals positively). And it represents good character in China’s collectivistic and interdependent culture. So in this study we will discuss the protective personality about proactive aggressive behavior. Specifically, at the basisof modified classic Taylor competition reaction time paradigm, this research use this modified paradigm to measure aggressive behavior, and make it as the measure of proactive aggressive behavior, aiming to discuss the different affect about high and low level interpersonal responsibility individuals. The study insist that interpersonal responsibility will negatively predict proactive aggressive behavior(hypothesis 1); At the same time, aggressive words clue priming will launch proactive aggressive behavior of individuals(hypothesis 2); Interpersonal self-support will have moderating effect between clue priming and proactive aggressive behavior(hypothesis 3).At the basis of previous research, the research want to test that interpersonal responsibility is the protecting personality factor of proactive aggressive behavior. At the same time, we discuss that the moderating effect of interpersonal self-support about proactive aggressive behavior after words clues priming. Before we carry out our experiments, we select about one hundred aggressive words and one hundred fifty neutral words as priming materials, which come from previous literature, dictionary and the internet. These words are all evaluated by about 30 graduate students or undergraduate students.Study 1 use the lexical classification task to carry out priming task, at the same time we use classic Taylor competition reaction time task to measure proactive aggressive behavior of individuals about others after aggressive clues priming. At study1, there are two experimental conditions, such as neutral words priming condition and aggressive words priming condition. When the subjects arrive at the laboratory, they will be randomly assigned to one group. Then they will be asked to finish the scale of Interpersonal Self-Support Scale for Undergraduate Students( ISS-US). After filling the scale, the experimenter will ask the subjects to complete the lexical classification task and the competition reaction time task through “network”, competing with other subjects as his opponent. In Study 1, regression analysis find that the main effect of aggressive words priming is not significant, only interpersonal responsibility can significantly predict proactive aggressive behavior, and the interaction effect is not significant. At the basis of classic Taylor competition reaction time task, at study 2 we modified it for measuring proactive aggressive behavior. And we use it as the index of proactive aggressive behavior of individuals with different interpersonal responsibility after words priming. But we changed the punishment of classic Taylor competition reaction time task, all the subjects were free from punishment at study 2. Two factorsanalysis of variance show that the main effects of words priming condition(F(1,60)=12.45,p<0.01) and interpersonal responsibility(F(1,60)=4.81,p<0.05) are all significant, but the interaction between them is not significant. We conclude that interpersonal responsibility trait can significantly predict proactive aggressive behavior of individuals, and words clues priming can significantly predict subsequent proactive aggressive behavior. but The results remain us that the priming effect of aggressive words is weakened under classic Taylor competition reaction time task, so the classic Taylor competition reaction time task may be not suitable for used as a measure of proactive aggressive behavior.
