A lot of researches on Jin Yong’s novels have been done, which are mostly based on cultural connotation, theme, gender consciousness, comparative studies and literature history construction, but fewer at the angle of “the Frontier”. These current researches just analyzed single phenomena or a specific phenomenon, which wasn’t being regarded as the research of the frontier. So this thesis will be focus on the writing style of the matters, events and characters in the hope that can get the frontier narrative strategy.Chapter one is the introduction, briefly sorts the research about frontier in Jin Yong’s martial and points out the research purpose and meanings of this paper. In addition, it will define “the frontier”. The main body is divided into three chapters. Chapter two mainly analyzes the exotic writing, embodied in two aspects: the natural landscape and the cultural landscape, which respectively reflects plain and jumping, strange, mysterious and poetic characteristics. As to the plain characteristic, is that the simple writing style of the novels makes the readers’ imagination of the mysterious natural landscapes real. The jumping character mainly refers to the strong contrast between the two different divisions of the landscapes: from the bad to the beautiful, from the narrow to the broad. And it is an aesthetics feeling of seeing the truth in the odd. And the frontier presents a series of strange and mysterious customs, including living habits, religious beliefs and behavior patterns. Compared to the sceneries of historic figures and cultural heritage in central plains, the author has relatively carried on the "defamiliarization" and "mystification" of the aesthetic construction. But the frontier is a poetic place in the author’s eyes. In a word, Jin Yong‘s novels show a kind of aesthetic tendency in the writing of the frontier. And this is related to the actual situation of the author. The third chapter mainly analyzes the legendary tendency in JinYong’s writing of frontier. Also, this is another special reflection in the aesthetic narration of the frontier. Due to the aesthetic imagination of the border, frontier legend will become increasingly strong and then allow the reader break through the limitations of daily life, and to meet the reader’s curiosity and anticipation of reading, and ultimately achieve aesthetic on mental level, which makes the realm of life be improved and expanded. It is mostly concentrated on the growth experience legends of the protagonists in the border area, legend of "exotic man" and the legend of animals and plants. Most protagonists’ adventures, survival from the death in the catastrophe and the final ending of seclusion were all took place in the frontier, which greatly enriched the hero’s legendary life. And frontier "exotic man", with its strange appearance, strange behavior, mysterious martial arts, as well as eccentric personality, shows a relatively exotic picture of heterogeneity for readers, and deepens the mystery and legend feeling of the frontier. Frontier animals and plants with the magic of toxicity, efficacy, and spiritual features, together with characters and plot of the novel construct in the development of the legendary border areas, so as to create a more profound literary imagination and literary expression space. In the same way, the legendary imagination also contains the realistic thinking of the author about the problem between the central plains and the frontier. The fourth chapter begins to analyze Jin Yong’s idealized writing, and this is an outstanding performance in the aesthetic narration of the frontier. It is mainly reflected in shaping the characters of three kinds of people: frontier women, border heroes and frontier "bad guys”, which mostly expresses the author’s ideals. Compared to the women of central plains, the frontier women are mysterious and beautiful, sincere and free; frontier hero is the "perfect" expression of many heroes, hoping to get an alternative satisfaction in reality absence. While the frontier “bad guy”’s inherent impression are strengthened by labeled identity character, compound writing with good or bad is intended to enlarge the flash point of the human nature. In this beautiful imagination, it is not only to let the readers get a kind of relaxed and pleasant aesthetic experience, but also to experience the noble of the author’s mission. In conclusion, the frontier in Jin Yong’s novels is more of a kind of imagination for the border, rather than the real border. Also, a tendency of the aesthetic narration appears in the imagination of the work itself, which lets the work itself to achieve a certain aesthetic effect. However, what it wants to explain, describe and demonstrate are concern about their age and their environment, and convey a deep concern for the reality. Therefore, in the novel, the writing of the frontier environment, the frontier people and the frontier legend is not a one-way writing, but a kind of aesthetic effect in the strong artistic tension.
