Chinese-Uighur Comparative Study On The Human Body Metaphors

It is the law of human cognition that people know the world from the easy to the complex, from the concrete to the abstract, from familiar things to unfamiliar things. Body metaphor is a way of describing and comprehending the world. The essence of body metaphor is to use the body domain to explain other domains. At first people use their body as a reference point to cognize the objective world, for it is the most direct way to know things and the world.In this paper, from the cognitive perspective, By lakoff and Johnson’s theory of metaphor. Chinese and Uighur human organs, At the top of the body "head" and Located in the bottom body "foot" as an example of human metaphors were analyzed.Discusses "head" and "foot" metaphor mapping mode and both Chinese and Uighur Metaphor differences in human organs and body metaphor used in Chinese and Uighur vocabulary teaching. Research shows that similarities than differences between Chinese and Uighur human metaphorical expression is large.Similarity is large because two ethnic Chinese and Uighur are have a common physical, psychological basis. Meanwhile, Chinese and Uighur body metaphor, there are some differences in expression, mainly by the relative culture caused.In this paper, to a certain extent, compensate for the current for Chinese-Uighur The lack of human body metaphor study, In addition, this research will to some extent to the Uighurvocabulary teaching, translation, contrastive linguistics are helpful.
