A Report On The Translation Of China And The Developing World,beijing’s Strategy For The Twenty First Century

This thesis is a translation practicereport on a collection namedas China and the Developing World Beijing’ Strategy for the Twenty First Century. This essay collection is mainly about China’s relationship with the developing countries. It analyzes China’s new policies on the relations with developingcountries after the Reform and Opening up, and shows that international communities are paying more attention to the policies made by China. How can the effect resulting from the changes of the relationship between China and developing countries influence the international communities is also revealed. We can get a thorough understanding on the international communities’ attitude towards China’s development through the translation of this essay collection.The report is based on the translation of several chapters of this book and describes how I finishthe report.In the process of translation, I realized that I had a lot of shortness in political and economic knowledge, so I read recent political and economic journals such as the Economist,China Daily to know about the characteristics of the political and economic languages.Then, under the guidance of the principle of Faithfulness, Expressivenessand Elegance, I adopt the methods like the literaltranslation, freetranslation, conversion and turn the passive to active to translate this collection. Examples from my translation work are offered to illustrate the above methods. Finally, I summarize the translation activity.This paper consists of five parts. The first part summarizes the content of translation materials. The second part expounds the author’s translation process. The third part offers the framework of translation theoryusedin this translation practice. The fourth part analyzes the characteristic of translation materials and explains the translation skills of subordinate clause, parenthesis and normalization.The fifth part summarizes the experience and confusion encountered in the translation activity.
