Speaking English isn’t an easy skill for EFL learners or even ESL learners, yet it plays an important role in communication. Many researches have been done in this field in such aspects as, influencing factors, speaking strategies, difficulties and many other factors. This research is intended to conduct a comparative study between Chinese and Yemeni students. This study aims to explore the difficulties that face Chinese and Yemeni students, strategies and the differences between the two groups. The participants were 20 students from Yemen and China, four colleges were involved. Three research instruments were employed, speaking test, questionnaire, and interview, each instrument were carefully design to answer the research questions. The results showed many differences as well as similarities. For the similarities both group face similar difficulty in speaking and adopt similar speaking strategies. For differences their speaking performance and learning attitudes are different. This study also provide the reader with the reasons which cause these differences. This study will play a great role in facilitating communication between the two nations, since it provides the reader with a clear picture of Chinese and Yemeni students performance, common features and strategies.
