Credibility is the basic political value that the modern government should possess, but in thenetwork society, our government is facing the difficulties that credibility is reducing constantly. Theunique political environment in network society set up a completely different environment and spacefor the government’s credibility; Because of the influence of traditional administrative mode, theChinese government has got a lot of problems in government information openness and accountabilitymechanism, which is a serious constraint for the government’s credibility. In recent years, thefrequent occurrence of network crisis reflects the status of China’s lack of credibility of thegovernment.To construct the government’s credibility, the network social background is a double-edgedsword. On the one hand, the government’s credibility is facing new challenges in the network society,such as the impact of the network social on traditional administrative management mode, thecompetition for public trust between network power subject and government and the constructiondifficulty increased by internet anarchism. On the other hand, the network society also provides anopportunity for the construction of government’s credibility. In the face of growing public awarenessof political participation, the government has the ability to use the network understanding publicopinion, reflecting public empathy, collecting public wise and focusing public livelihood. Therefore,the government should actively respond to the challenges, rationally take advantage of theopportunities and improve public trust.Firstly, the foundation to build the government’s credibility in the network society is to transformthe government ruling idea, take humans as essentials, and continue to promote administrationaccording to law, establish service consciousness and sense of responsibility. Secondly, thegovernment should regulate the network order, correctly grasp the balance between network freedomand order, and improve the network political participation’s order degree. Thirdly, the governmentshould deal with crisis in time, not only to nip in the bud, but also to deal with public crisis ofconfidence has occurred actively and effectively, in order to enhance credibility. Finally, thegovernment should improve the interaction mechanism between government and people and promotepublic participation and interest expressing instantly to improve government credibility and enhancepublic satisfaction fundamentally.
