The public crisis management is a systematic project, which requires the media’s activeparticipation. In the social transition of our country, the increasing public crisis events testnot only the government but also the mass media which need to take part in it actively withthe areas, becoming larger and larger. As a result, the government’s appropriate supervisionand promotion to the media plays an important role when a public crisis event happened.In the crisis management, government plays a dominant role and the mass media makeup an indispensable part in it. As for the mass media, especially for us television media, atthis point, we should build up an unobstructed channel for both information and emotionsbetween the government and public.The author, with his own hands-on experiences such as some cases of the reactions ofTV media in some public crisis events, expounds the great significance of presetting thecomplete strategies of crisis preventing and the full preparation of crisis managements.The article, based on author’s reflections on the theories of public crisis managements,discussed the actions and responsibilities of the media in local public crisis managements,bystudying the cases of Yang Jiang TV station where the author worked in.By finding the core problems and putting forward some measures, the author wishes toexpound that in the public emergencies, mass media should help the government deal withthe situation and make the public opinion under the correct guidance. At the same time, onthe one hand, the government should face challenges bravely. On the other hand, they needto establish an integrated local public crisis management system, which is of great necessityand practical significance for government, media and the public.
