In Hu Jintao period, China had carried out a series of major diplomaticactivities in four regions, those are Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia and CentralAsia. The activities had achieved significant results, the construction of stable andharmonious relationship between neighboring countries, the promotion of commondevelopment, the maintenance of peace and stability of Chinese neighboring countries, theclose relationship of National Humanities exchanges between China and surrounding area.At present, Chinese surrounding diplomatic faces a lot of challenges, mainly are thetraditional and non-traditional security threats, increasingly strained relations with Japan,American implementation of the Asia Pacific "rebalancing" strategy, the cognitive errorsof neighboring countries about the rise of Chinese etc.. Therefore, in the future Chinesesurrounding diplomacy must grasp the nettle, take efforts in the following aspects:maintaining good neighborly and friendly with surrounding countries, establishing stablestrategic relationship of mutual benefit with them, adhering to the win-win cooperationwith neighboring countries, constructing the interests community, strengthening securitycooperation, constructing the surrounding security community, enhancing the nationalstrength, establishing a good image of the country.
