In the latter half of the nineteenth century, socialist ideas was introduced into LatinAmerica, and deeply rooted in the Latin American culture. Between the end of twentiethcentury and the beginning of twenty-first century, with the rapid changes of the worldpolitical and economic situation, socialist ideological trend and movement emerged in manycountries and regions again, especially in the countries of Latin America. After the left-wingparties in these countries won the power, they decided to choose new socialist moderespectively, and regarded it as the guiding ideology to solve the country’s political andeconomic social problems on the bases of the status of development in Latin Americancountries, the ills of capitalism and a serious summary of the experiences and lessons. Thenew model of socialism linked with the Latin America’s thoughts, tradition and religion is notonly different from scientific socialism, but also different from democratic socialism. Theacademic circle called this theory and practice of socialism in Latin America during thisperiod the "Latin American socialism". The representatives of "Latin American socialism"include Venezuela Chavez “21st-Century socialism”, Bolivia Morales’s "communitysocialism"(or "Indian socialist"), and Ecuador Correa’s "twenty-first Century socialist". Thesetheories and practices have injected new vitality to the contemporary socialism, but itsdevelopment is still facing many domestic and international challenges. Latin Americansocialism is in a special low tide period which needs difficult exploration. Whether thecountries of Latin America conform to the historical trend and the development trend so as tomake the right choice, will affect the future of Latin American socialism.
