As an amateur historian, Morse is famous among world historians for writing numerous books on the history of China. In many of these works, three volumes of Foreign Relations of the Chinese Empire has always been valued for Chinese and foreign historians, it not only affects the early Western scholars view China, but also has a significant impact on Chinese scholars of writing modern Chinese history.There are four parts in this paper:introduction section reviews previous research to illustrate relevant research about the academic impact of Morse’s Foreign Relations of the Chinese Empire has yet to be strengthened; the first chapter focus on the work Foreign Relations of the Chinese Empire itself, Through analyzing the work, we can have a certain understanding about the book on the whole; the second and third chapters, respectively, from the impact of Foreign Relations of the Chinese Empire on the east and west side of the early scholars such as Harley Fransworth MacNair, Fairbank, T.F.Tsiang, Ch’en Kung-lu, etc., to explore the East and West academic impact of the work.
