Research On Copyright Protection Of Current Affairs

With the development of new technology, especially the development of mobile internet technology, current news spread faster and faster, and more channels are used. But the copyright of current news is listed in the law and the tort case about this increased. In order to reduce operating costs, most media are going to cooperate with other media or sharing information to attract more readers or users, so they can survive. But some of the media use others’ work illegally in order to save money. These actions damage the author’s rights.We’ll talk about how to save the author’s rights and ensure the user’s benefits in this passage. This paper will analysis two cases mainly and combine them with law knowledge to find out the answer. Discussing the challenge brought by the Today’s Headlines, this paper will define what is belong to the fair use and what is not. Besides, this paper will also introduce some ways to protect the rights of the copyright owner.Five parts are included in this paper.The first part is a brief introduction of two cases,and list three questions about the cases.The second part mainly interprets the concept of current news and explore the necessity of affairs shall be protected by copyright law.The third part is to discuss the range of rational use of the current news and the way to balance the rights of the copyright owner of the current news under the current environment.The fourth part mainly talk about the legal ways to protect the rights of the copyright owners in two aspects.
