The aged population above 60 of our country reached 10% in 1999,and China came to be an irreversible aging society ever since.Traditional way of old-age care exposed limitatio n more and more,and institutions endowment with geracomium as its represent started to pla y an more and more important role,so it’s no time to delay to perfect and complete the institu tion endowment system. With gowth of their ages, the olds become vestigal both in physiolo gical and psycological functions.How to build a space environment that fit the olds’psycolog ical feature,and make up the disadvantages existing in our geracomiums such as afunctions,i gnorance of privacy protect,limitations of aging personality development and unsatisfactio n of emotional needs etc. is emphasis of this paper.At first,through broad settle and read into research literature abroad and domestic and c oncrete case analysis, the author probes into the current situation of Nursing homes space d esign. Besides,this paper get enlightenment by analysis into the special psycological features, thus trying to build a favourable living environment to improve happiness and satification o f the olds.In the end,this paper comes up with concrete space design suggestions for geracom iums to improve their space design in use function,traffic lines space atmosphere and stantar d for architectual design.The aim of this paper is to make the space design of Nursing homes suit the psycolog ical features of the old,so as to provide a warm and favourable living envir-onment, improv e the olds’ quality of spiritual life and make them feel the care from their fa-milies and societ y,all above, to make the olds choose to spend their remaining years in gerac-omiums on thei r own initiatives.
