The rapid development of the economy and society brings profound social changes, such as the introduction of online transaction. Because of its convenience in shopping process, online transaction, as proved by statistics, has become increasingly needed in modern lifestyle. However, as every coin has two sides, online transaction also raises a series of issues besides its convenience, especially issues concerning how the government shall protect the consumer rights and interests. Those issues include the insufficient protection of consumer’s rights to know, the infringement upon consumer’s right to safety, etc. Although specific regulations are made by the Chinese Government in the New Amendment of Law of the People’s Republic of China on Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests (hereinafter referred to as "the New Amendment"), discussions are still needed in the light of the usability of such articles in solving real cases.Whereas, this thesis is designated to propose the author’s understandings by analyzing issues in the implementation of the New Amendment. Based on foreign outcomes, the research is conducted by giving focus to relevant concepts, problems, suggestions and methods concerning the New Amendment. It is expected that the author’s understandings will contribute to the perfection of the New Amendment, and consequently promote the sound operation of online transaction and social economy in China.
