Mao Zedong’s thoughts of combating corruption and building a clean government played a great role in his Maoism. It is also the first major theoretical result of the Communist Party of China during their anti-corruption battle. Mao Zedong attached great importance to anti-corruption in the concrete practice of China’s revolution and development. Based on his scientific study and analysis, Mao put forward the theory of combating corruption and building a clean government and formed the anti-corruption thoughts of Maoism creatively.This thesis is based on Marxism-Leninism as well as Mao Zedong’s thoughts. And it is also combined with the reality of China’s revolution and development. This thesis scientifically reviewed, concluded and systematically analyzed, studied Mao Zedong’s thoughts of combating corruption and building a clean government. This thesis mainly contains a preface and four chapters.The preface part elaborated the introduction of the question, current situations and research meanings, research thoughts, research methods, innovation and notions related briefly.Chapter One discussed the source of Mao’s anti-corruption thoughts. It includes the theocratic base of Marxism-Leninism, the cultural base of Chinese excellent traditional cultures, the practical base of China’s revolution and development. The lessons learned from the history across the world are one direct source of Mao’s anti-corruption thoughts.Chapter Two introduced the formation of the Mao’s anti-corruption thoughts. The formation process is introduced in four stages:the germination stage, the formation stage, the mature stage and the perfection stage.Chapter Three discussed the basic contents and the characteristics of Mao’s anti-corruption thoughts. It includes the following ten major contents and six basic characteristics ideological and political education is the most important base; serving the people wholeheartedly is the fundamental purpose; style construction is the important symbol; democratic supervision is the fundamental way; cadres construction is the basic main body construction; anti-bureaucratism and anti-waste are the fundamental contents; punishment of corruption is the fundamental task; the system of discipline inspection is the basic system; the mass line is the major measure; to perfect the law is the basic guarantee. The above ten aspects are the main contents. The six basic characteristics are profound understanding, high degree of vigilance, probity and self-discipline, ideological education, class struggle and the masses.Chapter Four discussed the historic contributions and contemporary implications of Mao’s anti-corruption thoughts. It laid a solid foundation for the Party’s anti-corruption construction. It enriched the Party construction theory and Maoism. It ensured the victory of China’s Revolution and provided a firm political guarantee for socialist construction. The above are the historic contributions. The contemporary implications include fighting against corruption as a major political task of the Party, maintaining the Party’s close ties with the masses, adhering to the mass line, strengthening cadres construction, ensuring the self-discipline of the Party leading cadres, strengthening Party discipline construction, preventing corruption effectively and cracking down on corruptionIn the new practice, we should inherit and continue to develop Mao’s anti-corruption thoughts further, which is still a guidance for us in combating corruption and building a clean government nowadays.
