The Experience And Enlightenment Of Cultivating And Practicing The Common Values In Singapore

The core value is the soul of rejuvenating the country,it has many functions,such as forecasting the trend of social development, integrating social forces and regulating the non-mainstream value and so on. It is because three important functions of the core values that has important value to social development. So it causes a strong repercussion and attaches great importance among every country and society.These countries constructed core values in accordance with their own actual and meet the demands of their own. And they accumulated many rich and valuable experience in the long-term exploration. Although the core value has the essential social system,it embodies the idea of a national ideology, its construction method and the path is not belong to the category of ideology, so the core value may be used for reference.Singapore has been committed to cultivating and practicing the common values for a long time. It has achieved great success.It strengthens national consciousness, improves the quality of national morality, promotes the degree of social civilization and enhances the international influence.Based on the background, evolution process, content, characteristics and constructional path of the formation of common values in Singapore,this paper argues:a certain general rule for the construction of social core values is that excavating national culture essence in inheriting, absorbing achievements of human civilization in the reference, realizing self innovation and sublimation in the integration, enhancing national cultural soft power in practice.And the efficient way of ruling party, government leading, social identity and citizens to practice is the successful experience of Singapore in cultivating and practicing the common values.That left us important enlightenment.This paper’s main body consists of four parts besides its introduction. The first part mainly discusses the background and process of Singapore’s common value in view of Singapore’s long-term foreign colonial aggression history, diverse complicated ethnic and religious society and realistic national conditions. The second part primarily illustrates the content of Singapore’s common values, and then through the analysis of the content structure, it summarizes the characteristics of Singapore’s common values.The third part mainly discusses the concrete paths and methods of practicing common values and on the basis of summarizing the results.The fourth part comprehensively summaries the experience of the common values in Singapore,it provides reference and enlightenment to the construction of China’s socialist core values.
