Along with the trend of globalization, the mobility of people and thought tends to spread widely and Western thoughts invoke some respondence. Cosmopolitanism derives from the Stoics in ancient Greece. They intend to make a moral community all around the world in which all human beings value equal, and have the responsibility for each other. The core of cosmopolitanism is that people should not be limited to their local community, but looking after the fate of strangers even of the human community. Reasons for the renaissance of cosmopolitanism should due to the increasing correlation between humans from different countries and the emergence of global issues in the process of globalization. Cosmopolitan citizenship is the key words and it can be achieved by enlightenment and education. Therefore, it is significant meaningful that summarizing the ideas of education for cosmopolitan citizenship.According to the main thread of cosmopolitanism, the first part forms a cosmopolitan community. It is a moral community, a community of republics, of diverse cultures and global justice. This community implies that human beings with reason seeking for good, the expansion of human rights and basic freedom in the whole world, the tolerance to cultural diversity and pursuit of global justice.And this part explores the quality of cosmopolitans. Such as responsibility, caring strangers, global vision reason and autonomy in ethics; deliberation, integrity and democracy in participation of community issues; tolerance in diverse cultures and political institutions for the sake of make the unity and peace of the world come true.The second part supposes to cultivate cosmopolitans in terms of the virtue of cosmopolitans, human rights, world knowledge and multi-culture, concerning global issues and training ability togo global participation. It should rely on the way of the cosmopolitan curriculums, local community participation, overseas studies and engagement in non-governmental organizations in which cosmopolitan attains promotion in knowledge, ability and values. So cosmopolitan is the one who has world vision, responsible for the earth and the global abilities.The third partfocus on criticizing cosmopolitan citizenship education. As for ideological and political education in China, it should adhere to core socialist values which makes sure the guiding status of Marxist in ideology, and opposes to universal values; cosmopolitan citizenship education means to beyond patriotism and denies the value of the special benefit to particular community of patriotism. Actually this doesn’t conform to the reality. Ideological and political education in China should adhere to Proletarian internationalism. At the last point we should engage on our traditional culture value and oppose to the way of abstract transplanting alien cultures in our ideological and political education.
