Since the ancient times, equality has always been a crucial issue to be focused in the whole world. As far as the existence of human beings, the pursuit of equality even has no stop or interruption. Equality has also been considered as a basic value orientation and a principle concerned on the construction of an ideal society. The embodiment of equality, which was always leading the conception and was endowed with different theoretical connotation at each time, generated as the interior equity of clans in the primitive society, then developed to the equality amidst the ancient Greek citizen, and subsequently explained as "everyone is equal before the god" in the medieval Christianity and "all men are created equally" in the period of enlightenment, and materially changed into a social acknowledgement that everyone is equal before the law which was established since modern times. The development of equality reflects the progress of political thoughts and practice of human society.Although in the works of Marx and Engels, no one was written in order to deal with problems of "equality", the significance of this problem amidst the Marxism cannot be denied. In their different books of periods, the explanation of equality, which has been an organic whole connected by inner links, was consequently forming an entire theoretical system of Marxism equality. To be explicit, in Marxism, the starting point of equality issues was based on human living in various relationships in a real society, what is more, Marx and Engels grasped the historical materialism of equality from the historical and hierarchical perspectives. This makes vital and influential contribution to our current social development.Since China’s reform and opening up, great changes have taken place in China’s economic and social structure. Having rapidly developed, China is particularly faced a series of unprecedented equality issues as well. In social and economic rapid development, the increase of total social wealth unexpectedly expands the gaps between different social groups. Unfortunately, the achievements acquired from reform and opening up has not been distributed equally. The accumulation of the negative effects has impeding the healthy development of the society. To maintain social justice and promote social harmony and orderly, exploring the solvation of these problems should be under the guidance of equality theory of the Marxism.
