Farmers are always being the vital and indispensable class in the social system of China from time immemorial. In retrospect, since the existence of human beings in the world farmers have been playing an important role. In the primitive society, all social members were farmers mostly who engaged in collecting, ploughing, fishing, herding, producing and manufacturing. We can say they fully deserved the title of dominator and were the blessed of times. In the slave society, the status and rank of farmers changed gradually because class came into being, some became slaveholder of ruling class and managed the running of subordinate and property by rising up suddenly, some who became oppressed ones, descended to penniless slave because of losing property and land, but those being the indispensable class of social development and advancement, still bore the heavy responsibility of social development and advancement subjectively or objectively. In the feudal society, farmers became a class or "Subjects" gradually, the basic system of feudal society consisted of four classes, scholar, farmer, artisan and merchant. Farmers with no or little land, experienced bad livelihood but high social status superficially, they still were the biggest social organization in feudal society which depended on small-scale peasant economy and took a fundamental role in development of social productive forces; in the capitalist society, industry took predominance while agriculture became appendage of industry, farmers turned into industrial workers as citizen in their rank and enjoyed certain rights and obligations according to the requirements of law. The number of farmers decreased largely which did not mean their effectiveness decreased, they still played irreplaceable role in the new field. In socialist society, farmers became revolutionary and builder of socialist course by making great contribution to the victory of revolution and development of social construction. In the communist society, there is no class in ideality so it’s hard to imagine what future industry is, but at least agriculture and related industry still exist and take up particular proportion, people who engage in agriculture exist too but not being a class, farmers may still have places of existence. Hence, we can draw a conclusion:farmers play a crucial role in social development, so we must not ignore the ideological and political education of farmers. After entering into new century, our urbanization went into all-round advancing stage, urbanization marched from coastal areas to hinterland in full scale, urban construction, small-town development and establishing economic development zone became the main impetus. On the other hand, due to ignoring the ideological and political education, farmers can’t keep the pace with times. Farmers apt to relative low living condition, the development of agriculture lag behind industry and tertiary industry, rural areas have poor construction in all aspects as well as poor development of science and technology, education, culture and health care. Farmers, with weak consciousness of laws and democracy, low moral quality and worse environmental consciousness, further enlarge the urban-rural gap and result in city-countryside dualization system. Finally many problems, such as low quality, slow speed and uneven development appeared in our urbanization. For this purpose, this paper analyzes the current condition of farmers’ ideological and political education in the urbanization of China and its caused consequence from the angle of farmers’ leading role particularly, and then goes deep into studying its reason and comes up with relevant solution so as to promote a healthy, fast and balanced development of urbanization course in China. The chapter one is introduction, mainly expounding from background and significance of topic, and including several sections.
