With the popularity and development of internet and mobile internet technologies in the middle of 1990s, digital music has gradually replaced traditional CDs and become the major form of music which users download and listen to. The application of internet technologies to music has fundamentally changed the music dissemination mode. As no adequate attention has been paid to the copyright issues, there are a tremendous number of pirated musical products in China. In addition to the damage of profits of the recording industry, musical works are copied and disseminated in a more "convenient" way, which has triggered the concerted denouncement by all parties involved in the traditional industrial chain.Copyright protection has attracted worldwide attention because it involves multiple fields: media, law, economy, politics and ideology. The Chinese music industry is a late starter and trying to find the suitable way to develop copyright laws, industry system and business models. Therefore, collaboration by persons in all involved fields is needed to cope with the difficulties and challenges in the internet era. From the perspective of the digital music industrial chain, this paper discusses how to gain the continuous profit point in the dynamic balance relationship among multiple industry stakeholders with the joining of new players in the network environment. This paper introduces the legal basis for the protection of the rights and interests of right holders under the Copyright Law, and how to reasonably confirm the legal and economic burdens of new members in legislation. From the perspective of conflicts in the distribution of existing interests, the author proposes the future copyright commercialization in the Chinese digital music industry through the comparison of the copyright issue settlement methods and business models in China and overseas regions. This paper aims to help upstream, middlestream and downstream enterprises in the digital music industry adjust the traditional thinking and licensing mode, and enhance their copyright awareness. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the background; object, purpose and meaning of the study; strategies and approaches; status quo of domestic and overseas studies, which provides certain theoretical basis for this study. The second chapter introduces the stages of the development of the Chinese digital music industry and the composition of the digital music industrial chain. The third chapter studies collective authorization and third-party responsibilities for balancing the internet technology development and the protection of copyright interests in the context of the third amendment to the Copyright Law. After the comparison of the exploration of copyright issue settlement methods and business models by domestic and overseas internet music enterprises, and in the light of the ongoing changes in music listening, the fourth chapter proposes that in the future, digital music services should be gradually promoted and the reasonable interest distribution should be standardized. In the final part of this paper, the author believes that in order to develop the copyright protection model for the Chinese digital music industry in internet environment, all parties from system tools and copyright service platforms need to make concerted efforts; and in the brand-new music commercial ecosystem, the involved parties should enhance the ability of value connection among enterprises and provide favorable conditions for the early realization of copyright-based operation of the digital music industry.
