The Study On Risks And Risk-averse Strategies Of Youth Volunteers

With the gradual rising of social volunteer activities, volunteer’s service has penetrated into all areas of the society and affected every aspect of our life. The youth volunteers, as a major force in social voluntary activities, bring warm to the society and others with their enthusiasm and vigor. However youth volunteers also confronted with various risks in voluntary activities, so it is of great necessary to study these risks.This research obtains research data mainly through questionnaires and interviews, and then process the date further by combining quantitative research and qualitative research. The research finds that the risks in service process mainly include personal accident risk, health risk, property risk, mental and psychological injury risk. But those risks are often neglected due to their slight injury. Therefore, in the long term, the risks of voluntary activities will affect youth volunteers’ enthusiasm of participating in volunteer activities, influence service objects’ view on volunteer activities and even cause legal disputes.This study also analyzes the factors that affect young volunteers’ risks. For the youth volunteers themselves, the differences on gender, risk awareness and the response to risk of youth volunteers have an important impact on young volunteers’ risks. For the youth volunteers organizations, the nature of youth volunteer organizations, risk awareness and risk management ability also play an important role in the risks of young volunteers. For the voluntary activities, the place and type of voluntary activities have the obvious influences on youth volunteers’ risks but the relationship between the time of voluntary activities and youth volunteers’ risks is not evident in this study.Finally, this thesis puts forward suggestions to avoid the youth volunteers’ risks on the basis of the above research: to strengthen the risk awareness and abilities of the youth volunteer to handle risks; to improve the risk awareness and risk management abilities of youth volunteers organizations; to perfect the relevant legal system of volunteer service.
