Analysis On Group Events In China

Since21th century, China has entered the accelerated period of social transformation. Accompanied by the adjustment of social structure and drastic changes in the pattern of social interests, various social contradictions accumulate, some of which have rapidly intensified and induced the occurrence of group incidents. As a new form of contradictions among the people, group events have broken out successively in our country, and are showing a growing trend. The Continuous outbreaks of group events hit the social public order seriously, causing severe social impact and the loss of lives and properties. It is not only related to the economic development and social stability, but also even related to that whether the achievements of reform and opening up can be maintained and the goal of building a well-off society can be realized on schedule. In view of this, how to prevent and deal with group events, and then effectively resolve the tension of social interests through the innovation of governance model has become a major practical issue for China to construct harmonious social order, so as to achieve coordinated economic and social sustainable development.In previous studies, most of the experts, scholars all discussed the group events from the perspective of law, sociology, political science, management science and psychology, etc.They tended to focus on analyzing group events from their specialized microscopic point of view, lacking overall grasp of the group events. Therefore, this paper will try to build on the historical background of our country’s economic and social transformation, and implement the Scientific Outlook on Development and build comparatively well-off society in the round angle. Based on systematically sorting out the relevant literature about the group incidents of those domestic and foreign scholars, this thesis expounds the concrete connotation, types and features of group incidents in China, taking Chongqing Wanzhou event and Yunnan Menglian incident as examples to delve into the causes of group events and their occurrence mechanism in China.Finally,this article puts forward proposals on how to effectively deal with group events, providing a way to better respond to group events.Logically, the thesis as a whole can be divided into four parts:the introduction mainly tells the research background and significance of the study, scholars’ research status and reviews of group incidents at home and abroad and the idea of writing this article and innovation. The second part analyzes the current status of the group events in the period of social transition. On the basis of systematically sorting out the relevant literature about the group incidents of those domestic and foreign scholars, this part expounds the concrete connotation, types and features of group incidents in China. The third part takes the Chongqing Wanzhou event and the Yunnan Menglian incident as examples to analyze profoundly the causes and mechanism of group events in China, laying a foundation for effectively resolving group events from a macro and long-term perspective. The forth part is about how to effectively prevent and handle group events, and make policy recommendations.In a word, the study of this paper believes that in China, the imbalance in the structure of social interests and the uneven distribution of benefits are the basic reasons of group events. The social benefit expression mechanism and interest mechanism are not perfect; the fact that the discontent emotion cannot be aired through normal channels is an important institutional cause of a great number of the group events. The construction of democracy and the legal system is not perfect, police abuse, the intensification of the contradictions are non-negligible causes of mass events. Capital alliances with power, lack of credibility of the Government are significant causes of outbreak of group events. Information management and the misconduct of media response result in rumors and outrage. Driven by the cluster behavior under special psychological mechanism, the "motley crew "vents dissatisfaction wantonly, which is the basic evolution logic of the group events from occurring to being out of control. Analysis of the causes of mass events lays the foundation for our strategies responding to group events.Therefore, in order to deal with group incidents better, we should reform and make the administrative management system perfect, accelerate the transformation of the government, and build a service-oriented government. Secondly, we should promote the reform of the income distribution system under the guidance of the Scientific of Outlook on Development, adjust the structure of social interests, coordinate between the interests of different social groups, and eliminate the economic root of mass events.Thirdly,we should constantly strengthen group event prevention of legislation work, strengthen legal education, improve the legal awareness, strive to enhance the public credibility of the judiciary, and ensure justice, thereby eliminating the political causes of mass incidents.besides,we should strengthen the ideological and moral construction, and construct a harmonious state of mind, to ensure that the correct public opinion is always in the main position, transfer social "positive energy" in order to eliminate the cultural roots of the group event. Finally, we should establish a normal mechanism of resolving contradictions, improve the interest expression mechanism and interest mechanism of the group incidents, and strive to make the induced factors of group incidents nipped in the bud and the initial stage.At present, our country is undergoing an important strategic period of the economic and social transition and construction of well-off society, and needs a stable social environment. A variety of mass incidents in different degree damage China’s harmony and stability, the negative effects on the smooth progress of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics cannot be underestimated. The study on the connotation, types, characteristics, causes and measures of group events in the period of social transformation is of great significance to prevent mass incidents, to alleviate the harm of practice. On the one hand, it can make the relevant departments of the government and their staff to correctly understand the group events, not only to see the necessity of group events during the period of social transformation, but also realize the chance of happening and prevent mass incidents form happening so as to provide a theoretical basis for the government departments to take effective preventive measures. On the other hand, it will offer new thoughts and ways for countries to comprehensively solve social problems. Group events are the results of comprehensive effects of various factors such as politics, economy, culture and society, etc.Therefore, prevention and treatment of group events must start form various aspects. In the process of social transformation, there are many social problems similar to group incidents in our country. The analysis and research of group events help to provide methods and idea for solving other social problems in social transition period and it has a vital tactical significance.
