A Study On The Issue Of Teen Internet Addiction And Social Assistance

Convenience and interactivity, which are the characteristics of Internet, facilitate our life very much. However, some specialties of Internet also bring us unfavorable influence, especially for some teenagers who are addicted to Internet. The reason is that these teenagers are still in growth, if they are addicted to Internet, not only their physical functions will be harmed, but also many psychological problems will accompany them. For their world outlook and values are still in forming, the teenagers are at an important stage of life, so the unhealthy content of Internet will mislead their thought. The first part of the thesis elaborates the background and significance of the topic, and the related researches, ideas and approaches which at home and abroad. The second part discusses the basic theories about teenager’s Internet-addiction and the definition of Internet-addiction. Meanwhile, from a theoretical perspective, it elaborates the Internet-addiction’s harm to teenagers, and also the positive significance of social assistance for them. In the third part, through analyzing some examples, it discusses the self-perception of teenagers who are addicted to Internet, the main content of teenagers’ Internet-addiction activities, and the group characteristic of teenagers’ Internet activities. In the forth part, through analyzing the reasons why some teenagers become addicted to Internet, it discusses the special object effects of Internet itself, the distorted cognitive concepts of these teenagers, the education deficiency of the related families, schools and society, the dis-coordinate of whole society’s Internet environment, and the imperfect of government’s management system, all these causing serious teenagers’ Internet-addiction. The fifth part elaborates the ways how the social assistance could help the teenagers who are addicted to Internet, which include guiding the teenagers to set up a correct cognitive concepts about Internet, strengthening the families’ education and management concepts about the Internet, optimizing the schools’ education environment, and optimizing the spiritual support of the teenagers who are addicted to Internet. At the same time, we have to reinforce the institution-building about Internet management, establish sound and effective ways of social assistance to help teenagers who are addicted to Internet, and through the coordination of the the Communist Youth League, the related governmental departments, and various social groups, set up an assistant mechanism which the whole society could take part in and work in concert, in order to help the teenagers who are addicted to Internet together, and create a favorable social environment for teenagers’ healthy growth.
