Prison Education

Against the backdrop of China reform and opening up, legal system and institutions are also on the reform agenda. As an organ for executing criminal punishments, prison plays an essential role in educating prisoners and maintaining social stability. The safety of prisons relies largely on the quality of prisoner correction. Education is one of the three major strategies for prisoner correction, and has played an increasingly important role for the economic and social development.This study examines the prisoner education from the Marxist’s prison and penalty perspective. It selected the B Prison as the case, and collected data from prisoners in this prison. Methods of documentary analysis, survey and comparative analysis were employed. The main framework of this paper is as follows:The first part describes the background and significance of foreign literature review and comparative study describes research methods, frameworks and ideas, summed up the lack of innovation and may exist;The second part, defined the concept of education as well as the transformation of prisoners, to clarify the principles and content of education reform, analyzes the necessity and possibility of inmates educational transformation;The third part, on the basis of B prison officers conducted a questionnaire survey, a comprehensive education reform inmates discussed the current situation and problems;The fourth part, from administering the prison, education, enhance team building three proposed education reform to improve the effectiveness of inmates countermeasures.
