The Evolution Of Tennoism And The Formation Of Constitutional System

The Mikado has a history more than a thousand years in Japan, but as the Emperor of Japan, it was not exist from the outset of Japan. Initially born Japanese nation didn’t have their own character, but with the gradually development, Japan began to absorb foreign cultures. The etymology of the word "emperor" affected by Chinese Taoist thought of "the emperor, the emperor north stars". When this ideology inherent with the traditional Deity worship beliefs in the Japanese nation, Emperor of Japan became the supreme God and spiritual authority incarnation, runs through the whole history of Japan."Tennoism " served as the country’s political system appeared closely related to "the Mikado", and through the development process of the ancient Mikado, modern and post-war symbolized Mikado. Tennoism integration is not only the strength of the Japanese national spirit and the spirit of a symbol of Japan’s traditional political culture, but also plays an important role in the production, establishment, development and transformation of Japanese modern constitutional government.As the first Asian country which implement the constitutional system, Japan is one of the few countries in the world to adopt a constitutional monarchy. After the Meiji Restoration in1868, Japan chose German-style constitutional monarchy from different countries of Western constitutionalisms, and combined it with the system of Mikado. And the modem Mikado system opened under the Meiji Constitution system. In1945, Japan’s defeat led to the collapse of the regime of the Meiji Constitution. As a defeated nation, Japan has been a huge pressure exerted by the United States, and was forced to modify the Meiji Constitution fundamentally. At last, referenced to the United States Constitution, Japan established the current "peace constitution". Tennoism had also changed from modem Mikado system to symbolized Mikado system. Although the two Constitutions and constitutional principles of the constitutional basis has fundamentally changed, and the Emperor’s original substantive political power of national sovereignty has been deprived and transferred to all people, but the spirit of the emperor’s authority was the same strain in the two constitutions in Japan and two different periods have played its constitutional role. It can be said that the Emperor of Japan after the Meiji Restoration in the political arena of the most important legal, political, spiritual and religious existence. It could not discuss Japan’s political structure and decision-making system in modern times leaving the Mikado, and Tennoism constantly change in tradition, is a microcosm of the political history of the development of Japan. Therefore, this paper will trace the main line of the development of the constitutional system in Japan after the Meiji Restoration, and analyze the role-playing of development of the constitutional at different stages of the Mikado and Tennoism, and use it as the starting point to explore the deep relationship between the traditional culture and the constitutional system and bringing enlightenment to China’s development and reform.
