On The Relationship Between Fuqing Overseas Chinese And The Construction Of Their Hometown

The city of Fuqing in southeast Fujian Province is a nationwide famous hometown of overseas Chinese with a permanent resident population of1230thousand among which more than eighty thousand people staying abroad. Basically every family have family members or relatives abroad living scattered in every corner of the world. It is reported that where there is overseas Chinese, there is Fuqingnese. Moreover there are nearly one hundred fellow villager associations or business associations organized by overseas Fuqing people in more than one hundred countries in the world.The overseas Fuqingnese never lose close touch with their hometown while they establish careers abroad. In contrast they participate actively in the construction of their hometown, making their great efforts to improve the social environment and economy of their hometown. Owing to these overseas Fuqingnese’s great efforts, Fuqing city has undergone enormous changes and gradually appeared new different images.The overseas Fuqingnese in spite of the young or the old, have the complex of loving their hometown although they support and take part in the construction of their hometown in different ways. Therefore they have created the unique social developing model of overseas capital playing the leading role. Hence we should protect, cultivate and develop the overseas Chinese. Meanwhile we should keep in close touch with them to draw more capital from overseas Chinese in different channels to inject constant developing force into their hometown.
