Research On Cultural Identity And The Development Of Cross-strait Relations

In today’s world, there are more and more eyes have been cast on cultural softpower, one of whose essential features is culture identification, which means the extentof acceptance and recognization for their own culture. Culture identification can haveimpact on people’s inner world. Specifically, it can construct and change people’s beliefsand values. In recent years, cross-strait relations have made significant progress,particularly in economic field, which has got positive results. However, there are somelimitations on the pure economic exchange, which is not enough to strengthen bothpeople’s feelings for each other fully and enhance the national identity of people inTaiwan. Therefore, it seems imminent for us to construct a sense of cultureidentification for the common culture peoples on both sides of the straits share. In orderto achieve it, we can find and show the common cultural inheritance for both peoplesfrom two sides, and make new cultural memories together.In this paper, I start the analysis from the perspective of advanving the relationshipof the cross-strait by constructing culture identification from peoples from both sides ofthe Straits. And through the methods of materialist dialectics and system analysisapproach, I has explained the relationships between culture identification and thedevelopment of cross-strait relations, pointed out that culture identification is the basisof the cultural interaction of cross-straits, the reasonable results of the development ofcross-strait relations and the premise of maintaining the national identity. By studying,researching and analyzing the major research results from theory cicles, I made aconclusion about the difficulties culture identification of both sides encountered. Asfollows, culture independence of Taiwan, globalization, local culture of Taiwan and thedifference about modern culture between two sides has threatened the cultureidentification. In terms of the importance of the culture identification and the difficultiespeoples from both sides encountered, it is vital important to set up culture identificationfor peoples from both sides of the straits.Culture identification has plasticity, and is a dynamic course that always keepchanging. It is a protracted mission to construct culture identification for peoples onboth sides of the straits. Thus, we need to make a good efforts to carry forward Chinesetraditional culture, strengthen young people’s communication from both sides, optimizethe exchange mechanism for peoples on both sides of the straits and set up the modernculture identification from both sides. What the innovation point such article has is made constructing modern culture identification vital important. And through findingthe common ground, peoples on both sides of the straits will create a new system ofmodern culture identification so that peoples on both sides of the straits will sharecultural values in the new time.All in all, I hope I can make some contributions for the construction of the cultureidentification of both sides and the permanent stability and sustainable development ofcross-strait relations from my research.
