Under the circumstance of the IT technology rapidly developed and being used in various areas, the application of IT technology to military is also studied. Many countries have importing IT technology into military during the development of military. How much the IT technology is used in military have been the most important measurement of modernization of military and the development of military weapons. The level of IT technology used in military of one country directly indicates the level of development of its’ military technology.The main content of this article includes two parts. The first part is about the modeling and editing of 3D situation symbols. Regular 3D situation symbols is defined by 3D models, the models can be rotated and scaled to adjust the orientation and size of models. Random 3D situation symbols are edited based on control points. Another kind of situation symbol is edited by mouse. We can draw the symbols through dragging mouse on the scene. Another problem is about the matching between situation symbols and the terrain. Regular situation symbols can be drawn on the terrain by the technique of decal and 3D models can be drawn on the terrain by search the height map to get the height of terrain. When modeling 3D situation symbols, the outline of symbols can be modeled through Bezier curves. We use a new method which is based on terrain mesh culling and Delaunay triangulation to generate the mesh inside symbols. We cull the terrain mesh by the outline of symbol to get the visible part of the symbols, add terrain mesh points into the outline of symbol, and finally use fast Delaunay triangulation to generate the mesh inside the symbols.The second part is about coordinated symbol. We use a method based on time-stamp and global world situation data to implement cooperation. We use a method based on lock to solve the problem of confliction.Finally we implement a coordinated symbol system base on 3D situation symbol and cooperation using C/S. It can work well to support 500 people working together.
