Research On Social Impact Of The West Qinhuai River Projects On The Surrounding Residents

With advances in the development of the city and society, people’s living standard is rising, demands are also growing. People’s requirements of water conservancy projects, especially government-led water projects, are increasing. Public water projects bring economic benefits, at the same time, their social impact is not to be overlooked. As government-led large public water projects, the West Qinhuai River Projects have had an important impact on society. The surrounding residents are in the projects, therefore the research on social impact of the West Qinhuai River Projects is extremely important at present and even in the future.In order to explore the positive and negative factors, identify them and weaken the negative impact, the surrounding residents are taken as the research object, the idea of public participation is introduced and the social impact study is carried out by the evaluation from the surrounding residents in this paper. The theories of stakeholders, agency, public participation, social attitudes are selected to establish a framework for the study and methods are used including seminars, interviews, questionnaires and statistics analysis technique to investigate and analyze daily problems the surrounding residents concern. The main results show that: water quality and traffic problem belongs to negative impact, while landscaping, landscape amenities and the living environment is positive impact, the impact of residential communities and walking frequency of the overall evaluation is significant, and the surrounding residents awareness the West Qinhuai River projects higher, forming the basis of public participation and shared governance.Finally, as to the problems found in the research from the investigation and analysis, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward for reference: to pay attention to surrounding residents’ demands, solve the problems as soon as possible, change to public participation and co-governance, combine major breakthroughs and overall management, optimize management mode and improve the supervision mechanism.
