Crisis can be the delimitation of becoming well or turning worse. Though the crisis can not be avoided, but can be controlled. Effective crisis prevention can reduce the possible of risks and minimize the loss of the crisis may cause. Crisis management proves to be the inevitable choice for the healthy development of the coal production industry. This paper puts forward the concept and the characteristic of crisis management and the mine crisis management, then introduces the theory of4 R.Compared with non-science and non-segment crisis management, 4R theory is more advantageous to complete and true crisis management. Transplant the theory proposed by Robert Heath into the mine disaster crisis management, divide it into four stages: reduction, readiness, response and recovery. Analyze the present situation about American mine disaster crisis management, especially the three major mine disaster in recent ten years, find out their successful experience, finally improve the crisis management of our coal mine industry.This article research American mine crisis management mainly from four aspects:firstly, from the perspective of crisis management define the disaster, because of the mining disaster has such characters as sudden, urgency, uncertainty, so it belongs to the category of crisis management. Secondly, analyze the applicability of 4R theory in crisis management, it provides effective theoretical foundation to the mine disaster crisis management; Thirdly, use the 4R theory to analysis the situation about American crisis management and summarize the characteristic of the mine crisis management; Finally, put forward relevant countermeasures of our mine disaster crisis management.
