Japan-US relations, as one of the most influential bilateral relationships in the world today, has its own distinct development history, the cognition of the history is of very important historical and realistic significance. No matter from history and reality, in some significant historical periods, this group bilateral relations has close ties to C hina. It deepens the necessity that we learn about the related history of JapanUS relations. President Taft’s presidency, namely the Japan-US relations of the "dollar diplomacy" period is this article’s research object. This period is not only the relations of two countries increasingly equalization, but also competitive rivalry’s important turning period. In this article, by analyzing this period’s relevant historical events of Japan-US relations to reveal the state and causes of formation of two countries’ relations. The period’s Japan-US relations can be divided in two levels in this article, namely the level’s relations of interests competition in China and the same period’s bilateral level’s Japan-US relations.Full text is composed of introduction, four chapters’ text and epilogue.Chapter 1 is the introduction, consists of object of study, significance of the subject, academic research situation, thinking of writing method and the brief introduction of innovations and deficiencies.Chapter 2 is the background of the "dollar diplomacy" policy. The related historical events of President Roosevelt period is used as the comparison object, aiming at highlighting the differences of Taft administration’s foreign policy from the former’s. This chapter is divided in two parts, in relation to Russo-Japanese War, "Harriman plan", the Hukuang railway loan, etc.Chapter 3 focuses on the Japan-US both sides’ fierce competition around the Manchuria railway rights and interests. Railway investment is the field that the "dollar diplomacy" initially points to and thence Japan-US Manchuria economic against situation is opened. This chapter’s content contains “Xin-Fa railway project”, ”Chinchou-Aigun railway project ” and ” Manchuria railway neutralization plan ”.Chapter 4 analyzes the two sides of Japan and U.S.’s competition and confrontation in the international banking group system. From the Quadruple Consortium to the Sextuple Consortium, the “Currency-reform and industrial development loan” to the ”Reorganization loan”, finally form economic sphere to political realm, the "dollar diplomacy" policy moved towards failure.Chapter 5 expounds the cooperation and confrontation of Japan-US bilateral relations in the corresponding period, this state not only has certain relations with China but also relatively be independent. The content of this chapter played an important supplementary role for a comprehensive understanding of the Japan-US relations of Taft administration period.The last is epilogue, the brief summary of the state and causes of formation of Taft administration period’s Japan-US relations.
