In the eve of 2014 Teachers’ Day,General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized in the discussion with teachers and students in Beijing Normal University that “if we want our country become prosperous, our national become prosperous and education develop, we need to cultivate and build a professional teachers team with high quality who also have noble teacher’s ethics, proficient business ability, proper structure and full vigor, we need large number of good teachers to stand out”. He deeply explained the extreme importance of educational work and teachers’ work, and fully expressed the importance of further strengthening teachers’ professional ethics construction. Teachers become the career that the whole society pays attention to, after the education ministry explicitly specified teachers’ professional ethics in 1984 and determined the Teachers’ Day in the legal form in 1985, it constructed good atmosphere of respecting teachers and emphasizing education, which expressed the high emphasis of our party and nation on education. Xi General Secretary also explicitly put forward the “four main characteristics” of “good teachers”: they should have ideals and faith, moral sentiments, solid foundation of knowledge and caring heart. These four main characteristics not only put forward requirements for teachers’ professional ethics, but also put forward requirements for teachers’ personal cultivation, which expressed that teachers strengthen their professional ethics construction by improving their own cultivation, continuously completing and developing themselves and increasing their ethics, in order to make contributions for Chinese dreams as developing modern education, cultivating builders and successors of socialist cause, and realizing Chinese nation’s great rejuvenation.Based on this, the paper digs our national traditional teachers’ ethics cultural resources on the basis of seriously checking relevant historical documents, and deeply analyzes the meanings and functions of personal cultivation in the construction of teachers’ professional ethics, explores the approaches of improving teachers’ personal cultivation, increasing their professional ethics and strengthening teachers’ professional ethics construction.The whole paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which introduces the thesis background, research meaning, current research conditions at home and abroad and research methods. The second chapter explicitly describes the connotation and relevance of personal cultivation and teachers’ professional ethics. The third chapter reviews our national excellent teachers’ professional ethics thoughts in different historical stages, demonstrates the importance of teachers’ personal cultivation on their professional ethics construction. The fourth chapter separately analyzes the meaning and effect of teachers’ good personal cultivation on their professional ethics construction. The fifth chapter separately puts forward the approaches and methods of strengthening teachers’ professional ethics construction from four aspects, including consciously increasing the understanding, working hard to improve themselves, highlighting personal practice and sticking to the “inner concentration”.
