China and India are the two largest developing countries in Asia and the world’s two largest emerging economies. The development of China India relations will have an important impact on regional stability and the world pattern. Since the beginning of the new century, the exchanges between China and India have been increasing. There are more and more common interests between the two countries in practical cooperation and international affairs. At the same time, based on the historical, realistic, geopolitical and national interests, the main factors that restrict the Sino Indian strategic cooperative partnership are: border issues, Tibet issue, the United States and the Sino Indian Relations and so on. Although there are many restrictive factors in the Sino Indian relations, but through the two countries economic, political, cultural, security and other cooperation can provide a favorable basis for solving these constraints. At present, both China and India are faced with the historical opportunity to realize the national rejuvenation, the great potential and realistic conditions of the China India strategic cooperation relationship exist. The two sides should conform to the historical trend and the need to build a closer strategic partnership. As one of the most important bilateral strategic relations in the world, China and India strategic partnership has been far beyond the bilateral scope and has a global and strategic significance. As in September 2014, when Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke to the Prime Minister of India Modi, China and India strategic partnership will certainly be able to continue to make new progress, to bring more benefits to the people of the two countries, in order to promote the prosperity and revitalization of Asia, the world’s stability and development to make new and greater contributions. Therefore, it is not only rich in theoretical value, but also has profound practical significance to study the Sino India strategic cooperative partnership.In this paper, literature, comparative analysis and cross disciplinary research methods are used to explore the challenges facing the development of strategic partnership between China and India. The main body of this paper is divided into the following four parts:Part I: the development of China and India strategic cooperative partnership. China and India have a close cooperation in the period of friendly cooperation between China and India, India actively assist China to set foot on the world stage. Sino Indian conflict confrontation period, the two countries broke out border war. During the period of thawing and heating up in China and India relations, the high level exchanges and mutual visits gradually. After the end of the cold war, China and India began to adjust their mutual economic and trade relations and foreign policy, announced the establishment of strategic partnership, and promote cooperation between the two countries to achieve new results. At present, both China and India are committed to consolidating the strategic partnership of peace and prosperity on the basis of mutual concern and mutual concern.The second part: the content of China India strategic cooperative partnership. China and India strategic cooperative partnership is rich and varied, covering political, economic, security, cultural and other areas of cooperation. Mainly include political, strengthen strategic communication, enhance mutual political trust, economic and trade, promote pragmatic cooperation and deepen the blending of interests; security, strengthen defense cooperation, enhance mutual trust. Culture, expand cultural exchanges, enhance mutual understanding. These elements complement each other, constitute an indispensable component of China India strategic cooperative partnership.The third part: the restricting factors of the development of China India strategic partnership. The boundary issue has always been the most important factor affecting the development of Sino Indian relations, the two countries are committed to improving bilateral relations. At the same time, India use Tibet to contain China, fully exposed the dual nature of India’s China policy. Moreover, the differences and conflicts between the two sides of China and India have become a major threat to the development of China India strategic cooperative partnership. In addition, both the United States and Pakistan are in a certain degree, which restricts the development of China India strategic cooperative partnership.The fourth part: the favorable conditions and the trend of the development of China India strategic cooperative partnership. The favorable conditions for the strategic partnership between China and India, including China and India, have the strategic needs for the realization of national development, and the strategic partnership between the two countries has a common interest basis. Moreover, the common historical destiny of the two countries and the two peoples together. Development and cooperation is the mainstream of China’s strategic partnership in the future. However, under the influence of the factors such as the geopolitical strategy and historical issues, the strategic cooperation between China and India will show the trend of competition and cooperation.
