This research work is a study about the analysis of Boko Haram, its source of power and its impact. Nigeria is basically divided into Christians in the south and Muslims in the north. It has a long history of religious conflicts, some of the most virulent being those of the Maitatsine(1980s) and Boko Haram(2002). Boko Haram which means western education is a sin, so forbidden, is therefore a terrorist group based in the north of Nigeria which is predominantly Muslim area and which has been operating in that part of the country for more than a decade.Founded in 2002 by Mohamed Yusuf, the group has attacked churches, mosques, government institutions, schools, banks, markets and etc. This terrorist group has, since its formation, displaced hundreds of thousands of people and killed tens of thousands of others. The most affected are the people in the northern part of Nigeria. In recent times, kidnapping people, both foreigners and nationals and demanding ransom for their release is used.Unresolved national issues, including the weak economy, weak security and lack of political will might have contributed to the creation of the sect. However, the likely material, and ideological support received from other global jihadist movements is a source of motivation. Besides, another significant aspect which might contribute to the strengthening of Boko Haram’s capacity over the years would be the somewhat ambiguous role and the attitude of some great powers. And Boko Haram has taken the opportunity of this volte-face to become more radical, to intensify its attacks which are not without consequences.Boko Haram’s activities have had serious political, economic, social and security implications not only to Nigeria but also to neighboring countries such as Chad, Cameroon, Niger and etc. On the political front, the insurgents have tried to overthrow the existing political establishment and to replace it with their own version of Islamic values and belief system(sharia). Considering the high interdependence in the transactions and the trade of all kind in the region, those above mentioned countries are also economically affected by Boko Haram’s effects. The menace remains despite the individual interventions of the countries and the formation of a Multinational Joint Task Force for a collective action. Through this study, we will find out why Boko Haram is still resisting. And we will see what this terrorist organization whose origin and zone of action are mainly in Black Africa caused as impacts through its dynamics.
