Ukraine crisis was an open geopolitical contest between Russia and Western countries after the cold war, involving more than one country, various levels of politics, economy, culture, energy, etc. The Ukraine Crisis made Russia, the European Union and the United States pay more attention to energy. The Ukraine Crisis was the result of several factors, but it was undeniable that the energy factor played a really important role. In the process of the crisis, substantial price fluctuations did not appear in the international energy market, on the contrary, it had been rising steadily. However, the world prices for oil and gas did not rise to the highest point, but descending. This seemingly calm phenomenon was hidden behind the game between the eastern and western countries on energy issues. From the energy point of view, Russia, in Ukraine and Europe, was the main energy supplier, the fuse of the crisis in Ukraine was also due to President Viktor Yanukovych suddenly announced the canceling of the associated country agreement Europe and caused domestic political contradictions. Ukraine’s energy shortage made it affected by the energy supplier, Russia’s energy policy, energy security was not very stable. For Ukraine, the special geographical location drove it to coordinate the interests of all aspects, whether in diplomatic policy or energy policy, but the swing of alternating directions made the nation’s energy security and diplomatic discourse not based on its own national interests, rather, it gave more consideration to the balance between east and west.In Ukraine crisis, the countries involved were not only Ukraine, but also the geopolitical "neighbors", EU and Russia. During the crisis, Russia, European Union, and the United States maintained a certain degree of concern on its development. Especially for Russia and the EU, the Ukraine Crisis was directly related to the development of energy and energy security problems of import and export trade. During the stage for the crisis development of different countries, the coping styles were not the same. Especially after the Ukraine Crisis, Europe and the United States and other western countries united and introduced Russia a series of sanctions policy to Russia, not only in the energy sector, but also in finance, military, import and export trade. The series of measures in impacted Russia’s economic and society a certain extent. Later, the devaluation of ruble, the drop in oil price made Russia’s economy worse. However, the Ukraine Crisis on the surface was a deep geopolitical crisis, the energy factor behind was also an important reason that could not be ignored. Energy in the development of the crisis would play an irreplaceable role in the future.
