Farmers in China are always a large social group. Each of them has a different concept. But in a certain social condition, as a single individual, people are the combination of a variety of ideology. Just as author puts it "Essentially, human beings are ideological animals."In the traditional Chinese society, the first to occupy farmers’ ideological consciousness is family. Since self-sufficient economy is the economic foundation of society. The narrow geographic space limited the ideological understanding and the communication range of the farmers’ and the hierarchical social system strengthened the paternity and the clan power in people’s mind. So gradually, family community has formed which unified the blood and geography. In addition, the united centralized country occupies the traditional society most of the time. Under the centralized bureaucratic rule, the imperial worship consciousness is gradually growing. It is closed related to the backward social productive forces which makes farmers in production and life have to rely on their state to solve difficulties. And because of the lack of subjective consciousness, farmers have a certain long-term stability which attach themselves to the royal authority and worship consciousness. By the early 20 th century, China mainly came into the era of dynastic rule. However, with the collapsing of Qing dynasty, existing more than two thousand years of Chinese history, the state change sequence, continuing in the form of dynasty mode stopped and farmers’ imperial worship object no longer existed. Later then our nation opened up the process of building the state and the dominant factors of peasants’ ideological thinking turned from the imperial worship to national identity with the rapid development of the national consciousness. After new China was founded, the history stepped into a new stage of eradicating the old and fostering the new. In order to consolidate the new regime, our nation not only needs to conform the system of the situation but also needs to set up the mainstream consciousness which is in line with the new situation. At the critical historical juncture, the Communist Party of China must start from the vast rural areas to find the strongest strength and support. Thus, the exploration of constructing peasants’ perception of the nation. This thesis is mainly based on the changing of Chinese history in the 50 s, and expanded during the background moving round the relationships between state and the rural society, country and citizen. The countryside is the primary place after the founding of China where the Communist Party of China embeds with the mainstream consciousness and the farmers are the core elements. The main paths are to shape the farmer’s class consciousness with the help of the sinking of state power, to reform the small-scale peasant economy by cultivating their national consciousness, to enhance their political conscience by encouraging bringing culture to the countryside. The construction of mainstream ideology with its spreading is a part of the consolidation state regime construction. During this process, farmers will weigh and consider balance so the constructional process will bring certain positive influence and cause a series of anti-behavior. This forces us reflect on ourselves and seek a more reasonable solution to improve people’s livelihood since it is essential to enhance farmer’s self-identity for the country. It forces our nation to give play to conscious activity by leading peasants to erect rational value and to construct more perfect national consciousness construction way by changing the one-way transmission.
