Research On Military And Political Academies Of Chinese Communist Party In Yan’an Period

In Yan’an period, in order to meet the needs of the revolutionary war, the base building,cadres cultivation, and Party construction, the Communist Party of China established a series of military and political academies. These academies occupied a significant position in the history of Chinese revolution and the Chinese Communist Party. They supplied tremendous intellectual support for cadres training as well as Party building, and provided theoretical and practical guarantee for the Party’s regional governing. Regarding the military and political academies as an important reliance and an effective approach,Communist Party fostered a large number of cadres and talents. In the constant process of theoretical and practical innovation, the Party improved its self-building, supported the construction of the bases, consolidated the foundation for its development. Above all,during the thirteen years in Yan’an, the party’s political and military academies laid a solid political, economic, cultural, ideological, military, talent foundation for the success of the new-democratic revolution and the establishment of new China.This paper interprets the military and political academies of Chinese Communist Party in Yan’an Period from various perspectives. Firstly, with the key point of the establishment background of these academies, the paper teases out the necessity of building them in Yan’an Period from domestic political development, party’s cadre forces construction,Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region’s consolidation and establishment. It illustrates the general situation of these academies, selecting Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, Northern Shaanxi Public School, Lu Xun Institute of Literature and Arts, China Women’s University, Yan’an University, Central Party School of Communist Party of China as main representations. Secondly, the paper summarizes the educational philosophy and practical activity of these military and political academies in Yan’an period. The educational philosophy of the academies included the service for long war, the combination between education and productive labor, the united front policy in cultural and educational work, the adherence to the party’s leadership and mass line. Under the guidance of the educational philosophy, the party’s military and political academies implemented practical activities:treasuring cadres education, training a large number of party cadres, participating in the construction and management of border region, leading Yan’an Rectification Movement,running schools openly, managing democratically and so on. Afterwards, the paper introduces Communists’ sentiment with military and political academies. The establishment,development and expansion of military and political academies were closely connected with concern of major leaders of Chinese Communist Party such as Mao Zedong, Zhang Wentian, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De and so forth. Under their elaborate guidance, the military andpolitical academies gradually became a cradle where the party cultivated cadres and talents,and meantime formed complete guiding ideology and educational policy. This part not only embodies the Communists’ lofty sentiments, sincere emotion and diligent contribution to the military and political academies, but also acts as a highlight of this paper. Finally, this paper concludes with the historical contribution and experienced enlightenment of the military and political academies. The historical contribution mainly incorporates fostering a stream of backbone for the victory of Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War, promoting the integrated development of Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region, making a contribution to the development of Marxism Sinicization, strengthening Party construction,expanding Party members, reserving abundant talents for the following all-pervasive construction of new China. The school running experience told us: we shall uphold the Party’s leadership, pay high attention to Party’s cadres education, make great efforts to the party’s ideological and political education, stick to the principle of linking theory with practice, and carry forward the Yan’an spirit implying hard struggle. In conclusion, through studying the party’s military and political academies in Yan’an period, the paper provides reference for the current Party’s cadres education, the party building and national talent cultivation.
