The Influence Of Tibetan Nationalism Trend On The College Students’ Ideology

Since China’s reform and opening up, various social ideological trends have been impacting and influencing universities, among which, nationalism has much more influences on undergraduates. There are both rational and irrational trends on current Chinese nationalism trend. Irrational nationalism trends is so inflammatory that it is easier to resonate among undergraduates whose ideologies are immature, which deserves to be concerned. In contemporary China, Tibetan nationalism trend is at the core of public voice among the debates about nationalism trends of thoughts. As a nationalism trend, Tibetan nationalism trend is not only in line with the general characteristics of Chinese nationalism, but also has some special characteristics. There are both rational Tibetan nationalism and irrational Tibetan nationalism, especially, Tibetan national separatism is a typical trend of irrational nationalism. For the sake of that most of the nationalism theories are abstract and this paper is going to set Tibetan nationalism as an entry point and attempts to grasp the core idea and basic structure by discriminating the theory of nationalism and historically reflecting the Tibetan nationalism. On this basis, this article analyzes the influences of both rational and irrational thoughts about nationalism on undergraduates, as well as the causes. And then proposes feasible countermeasures for guiding undergraduates to establish rational nationalism.This report consists of an introduction and four chapters:The introduction starts from the origin of the research, dredging the current domestic and foreign research status about nationalism theory and the Tibetan nationalism, based on which develops the ideas and methods of this paper. The main text includes four chapters, in the first part, it sets up the theoretical background, starts from the summary definitions about the nation and nationalism, and elaborates on the historical features and contemporary environment of the Tibetan nationalism; The second part sets up the historical background, determines the Tibetan nationalism as the research object, clarifies the theoretical and historical development of Tibetan nationalism ever since the late Qing Dynasty, further points out the contemporary ethnic separatism is a crosscurrent and also an irrational nationalism; The third part, on the perspective of focus issues of Tibetan nationalism, by summarizing questionnaire statistics and case studies, concludes the current situation of college students’ nationalism and the positive impact of rational nationalism on them, then analyzes the impacts from the four dimensions of individual, social, external and special factors; The fourth part, discusses the countermeasures to guide undergraduates to establish a correct attitude towards nationalism, which mainly includes the optimization of the overall social environment, improvements of public media strategies, the main role of college education, and improvements of college students’ overall quality.Chairman Xi proposed that colleges and universities must strengthen the study on the ideological and political conditions and fields of teachers and students in the Twenty-Third Party Construction Work Conference. It is the key emphasis to grasp the influence of nationalism trends on undergraduates in colleges and universities ideological work, according to which, the research of this thesis has certain significance.
