The Study Of The Immigrants In The Silicon Valley

The Silicon Valley is a high-tech researching and producing technopolis where many cities cluster. Meanwhile, it is one of areas with the highest proportion of immigrants in America. The Silicon Valley is famous for the rapid development of the high-tech economy and the diverse nationalities among the Metropolitan Areas in USA. After 1950s, the economic adjustment and establishment of the high-tech enterprises attracted many immigrants from all over the world. They not only work as scientists, engineers, CEO and so on, also play the pivotal roles in labor-intensive work. This paper argues the general situation, the features and the contribution of this group in Silicon Valley. This article is arranged by chronological order and divided into three chapters.The first chapter reviews the historical background of urbanization and immigration in Silicon Valley. On the base, the chapter interprets the rise of immigrants’upsurge since the 1950s, the urbanization process in the Silicon Valley and the life of minority ethnic immigrants among the cities.The second chapter focuses primarily the immigrants’community life, aid association and the performance of economy, politics, culture, education and language in the Silicon Valley. This chapter discusses the hardship of immigrants’assimilation into the mainstream society based on the family values and social identity.The third chapter argues the contribution of immigrants to the Silicon Valley’s cities, especially the urbanization progress and the economy development.America is an immigrant country,while the Silicon Valley is a typical immigrant area.The Silicon Valley developed from farmland and orchard into the global high-tech economical center,which had close relation to the immigrants.If we respect the historical facts,and scientifically analyze the relationthip between the immigrants and urban development,we can gain much useful experience from the secret of the Silicon Valley’s development.
