China's reform and opening to the outside world has promoted the rapid development of Chinese economy and also pushed the Chinese immigration to the outside world, which causes the beginning of new immigration in the 1980s. Along with the normalization of relations between U.S. and China, the stabilization of international political situation and the attraction of the relatively loose immigration policy to China by American government, more and more Chinese immigrants go abroad and settle down in America. It is in this period that new Fujian immigrants choose to leave their hometown to America again, which is becoming one of the biggest groups of immigrants in the 1980s in America. Although preserving traditional culture of old immigrants, they have a complete change in the concepts of immigration. This historical change casts a mysterious veil for their survival in the American multi-ethnic and cultural pluralism society. How can they adapt to this society? What kind of living style do they choose? How can they build up the bridge and ties between China and America? All these have become the objects of universal attention. Therefore, this paper will set new Fujian immigrants as the research focus by observing their living style, identity, integration as well as analyzing the two way operations conducted by the new immigration towards both China and America. In addition, the paper will access to a fresh and comprehensive understanding of the theory"pulls and push"and the importance of civil diplomacy by taking new Fujian immigrants as a special case study.
