Cultural Construction Of Miao Historical Immigrant Groups Under The Background Of Modernization

Culture is a widely concerned focus of Anthropology. The society is experiencing comprehensive reform today, culture also takes great changes. The result of the interaction between the traditional culture and the modern culture leads to the construction of the culture. Xiaomaopoying Miao historical immigrant group moved from Huayuan, Hunan to Xiaomaopoying, Xuanen. Because of its ample national culture and prominent cultural construction phenomenon, it provides us a dieal research base for the investigation and the study.This paper uses interdisciplinary research methods, mainly by Ethnology field research method, Ethnology literature research method and Sociological interview survey method. After an overview of the traditional culture of Xiaomaopoying Miao historical immigrant group, the author illuminates the cultural construction situation of the historical immigrant group and makes use of the theory to explain. Finally, the paper makes a reflection on the cultural construction of the Xiaomaopoying Miao historical immigrant group under the modern background, hoping to make some contribution to the better development of Xiaomaopoying Miao historical immigrant group.This paper studies the cultural construction of the Miao nationality historical immigrant group in the case of Xiaomaopoying village. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, introducing how to choose a topic and defining the concept of culture and cultural construction; the second part summarizes the basic situation of the field case in order to comprehensively grasp the field investigation. The third part shows Xiaomaopoying Miao historical immigrant group’s traditional culture from language, education, religion and expounds its performance in terms of national identity; the fourth part discusses the cultural construction of Xiaomaopoying Miao historical immigrant group under the background of modernization and analyzes the driving forces of cultural construction,what’s more the paper also uses Bourdieu’s theory of cultural reproduction and the concept of the field to discusses the cultural construction of Xiaomaopoying Miao historical immigrant group; the fifth part tries to reflect the cultural construction of Xiaomaopoying Miao historical immigrant group from two aspects which is “Original ecological culture” and “isolated island” form of Folk Culture Village, and sum up the construction of the two strategies, namely, the choice of representative culture and follow the “I will”.
