A Study On Factors Affecting Migrant Workers’ Acceptance Of Institutionalizing Rights Protection

In recent years, the problem of migrant workers labor rights are violated is still very prominent, migrant workers’ behavior increasing for safeguarding its own interests. In the current study on the migrant workers rights protection problems, migrant workers’ acceptance of institutionalizing rights protection is an issue that has not been due attention.Based on the survey data of migrant workers in Wuhan, the paper focuses on exploring basic information about migrant workers’ acceptance of institutionalizing rights protection and analyzing the affecting factors from three angles: social network, political credibility and enterprise system. From a realistic point of view, exploration of these problems could be used to guide the migrant workers in institutionalizing rights protection, reduce their preference of non-institutionalizing rights protection way, so as to promote social stability and harmonious development.According to the research findings, migrant workers gladly embrace the idea of institutionalizing rights protection. The vast majority of migrant workers made it clear that if the rights and interests are damaged, they are willing to use institutionalizing rights protection way. Specifically, seventy percent of the migrant workers are willing to take the judicial rights protection way, occupied the highest proportion; about half of the migrant workers are willing to take the administrative rights protection way, proportion was slightly lower than the judicial rights protection way; a third of the migrant workers intend to choose the organizational rights protection way, the lowest proportion in three ways.Amongst all the affecting factors, fellow townsman party, political credibility and infringement of rights committed by an enterprise have a greater influence on migrant workers’ acceptance; while labor union, their trust in government and social security system of an enterprise have a limited influence. Further analysis found that under the different institutionalizing rights protection way, the influence of various factors on the migrant workers’ acceptance of institutionalizing rights protection will difference. Fellow townsman party and labor union have a greater influence on migrant workers’ acceptance of the judicial rights protection way, social security system of an enterprise has a greater influence on migrant workers’ acceptance of the organizational rights protection way,political credibility has a greater influence on migrant workers’ acceptance of the judicial rights protection way and the administrative rights protection way, infringement of rights committed by an enterprise has a greater influence on migrant workers’ acceptance of the judicial rights protection way, the administrative rights protection way and the organizational rights protection way, while their trust in government and social security system of an enterprise have a limited influence. Individual characteristics including education, marriage, politics status and current job are some of the most important factors.
