Women’s issues are significant social problems of modern China. Chinese women suffered severely from imperialism and native feudalism, ruling by the government, the clan authority, the religious authority and the authority of husband. Therefore, women’s liberation became an important part of China’s new-democratic revolution. Chinese women had such an important social position that the settlement of women’s issue affected the development of the society directly. Therefore,Mao Zedong pay specially attention to chinese women’s issues. Mao Zedong Thought on Women, an indispensable part of Mao Zedong Thought, encouraged Chinese women to change their fate of being repressed and exploited and to pursue to be new women with the characteristics of being free, democratic and equal with men. Thus, The Chinese women had access to unprecedented liberation. Mao Zedong Thought on Women has exerted a profound and far-reaching influence on guiding us control and settle the remained and emerging women’s issues and promoting the comprehensive advances made in women’s rights.The text is divided into four parts: The first part introduces the source of ideas of Mao Zedong Thought on Women in the new-democratic revolution. The born and development of sexual equality and its further development promoted by western bourgeois laid theoretic foundation for the settlement of Women’s issues. With the introduction of Marxism into China in the period of New Culture Movement, early Marxists began to review the Chinese women’s issues from a brand new perspective. The second part introduces the development course of Mao Zedong Thought on Women in the new-democratic revolution in chronological order. Mao Zedong, as a teenager, began to pay attention to women’s issues.His thought on women has experienced the germination,formation,maturation and further development. The third part introduces the main content of Mao Zedong Thought on Women in the new-democratic revolution. From the theory of women’s oppression, the status of women, women’s liberation and women’s rights and interests theory, the essay discusses four aspects. Mainly analyzing the underlying reasons of the oppression of women Mao Zedong puts forward a constructive "SiQuan theory",which highly summarizes the reasons of women oppressed for a long time.The important role that women played in the revolution, the bumpy course of women’s liberation and the ways to safeguarding women’s rights and interests. The fourth part mainly introduced the era value of Mao Zedong Thought on Women. First, it had profound practice value, which leaded the women’s revolution to success and changed the old image of Chinese women and promoted the world women’s liberation. Second, it had treasurable theoretical value, which enriched and developed Marxist view of woman and provided theoretical guidance for the settlement of women’s issues of socialism with Chinese characteristics,as the same time,gived the important guiding significance to solve the problem of contemporary chinese women’s issues.
