Stuck in the WTO multilateral free trade talks, sign a bilateral free trade agreement, join the regional free trade area has become common in a number of countries to choose. As for China, since the"17th congress" put forward to carry out the strategy of free trade zone, the bilateral free trade talks had been speeded up. So far, China has signed 13 free trade agreements, and has 8 free trade agreements in negotiations. Bilateral or regional free trade area construction has become the source of the power of the development of export-oriented economy in our country. Study and establish the most suitable rules of origin for China’s current economic system, is of great significance for making full use of the free trade area construction in China implement the "going out" development strategy.Rules of origin are used to determine "origin of goods" In the preferential trade agreements, are an important issue in regional preferential trade negotiations, are an indicator of a country’s trade policy. The role of rules of origin in international trade developed from for the convenience of customs statistics and marking the goods’ country of origin in initially into a new type of non-tariff trade barriers besides the traditional tariff barriers now. For the free trade zone, rules of origin play the function of reducing foreign competition and protecting area member states.This article selected the rules of origin of the latest free trade agreement between China and Australia as the specific research object. The first chapter studied the basic issues of the rules of origin, including the development of rules of origin, decision criteria, classification and impacting on the international economy, etc.; The second chapter introduced the two mainstream modes of rules of origin in the world today; The third chapter introduced the situation of China-Australia FTA. also introduced the rules of origin in China-Australia FTA, and pointed out the deficiencies of them; The last chapter put forward some Suggestions for the shortcomings.
