The Red Song And Its Functions Of Ideological And Political Education

Since the May 4th Movement, the red song has become special cultural heritage of our country. It bears witness to Chinese Communist Party, Chinese revolution, construction as well as reform. The red song is the wealth of not only music, but also of ideology for it contains a large amount of content on ideology and morality. Chinese Communist party has always emphasized ideological and political education, while red song was not always attached attention. Now red song becomes hotspot in society again, so it’s meaningful to talk about its functions of ideological and political education. The paper, from the perspective of music and ideological and political education, does this research through several methods like literature research, interdisciplinary research, combination of theory and practice as well as musical appreciation, with the knowledge of communication and political economy.This paper includes three parts:introduction; body; conclusion. The introduction introduces research background, research meaning, research status at home and abroad, and the development of research as well as research methods. Body includes four parts: the first part illuminates concept, features and contents of the red song from the perspective of ideology,pointed out that the content of the red song is divided into broad sense and narrow sense, with artistry and thinking, political and mass, backtracking and era characteristics, including propaganda revolution, ode to the motherland, praise the party and the masses, proclaiming the right path, and look forward to the future; based on the first part, the next one analyses the concept of the functions of ideological and political education of the red song,and thinks the red songs have the functions of inherit red gene, prominent main melody,nourish the Socialist Core Values and "Three Strict sand Three honest", cultivate the sense of beauty and emotion; the third part clarifies main factors and specific causes that restrict the performance of the functions; and the last part expounds how to overcome these factors,from the three aspects of environment, spreading, the relationships between red songs and the audience,so that the functions of ideological and political education of the red song can be performed effectively. The conclusion reviews paper’s main content and summarizes its writing characteristics, and also contains reflection and offers suggestions to others’ research.
