The origin type tradition which has produced a profound effect on modern society is the basic system of modern social development. It is also the historical starting point and the given conditions of the modern society. Through the process of historical evolution, Manor system is the general system of rural governance in ancient Western Europe which is the base of the evolution. As the research paradigm in our research, we analysis the internal operation mechanism, social relations, political and economic relations and the organization type to get the basic feature of manor system in rural governance and its role in the process of transformation of modern society in England.Rural governance in traditional England was based on manor system where manor was a unit of land management, a kind of large estate forming ownership and administration units, and also a important and formal organization of social structure which built rural social base. The core of manor system is noble ownership institute of land and labor. Rural governance of traditional England whose essence were issues on the arrangement of producing activities and social relationship adjusting among manor lords, peasants and themselves. Producing in manor made land as tenant land of peasants and plot land of lords, where it made use of peasants to organize and operate the producing process. The noble transformed part of judicial and administrative work to manor by diving state’s power, and kept their own political and economic situation effectively based on manor courts, the basic mechanism monitoring the relations inner manors which made lords and peasants together with rights and duties. The operating principle of courts was the conventional rules constituting rights and obligations between lords and peasants.From the view of the characteristics of the manor system, we can divide it into embryonic form of the land ownership system. Servitude is the embodiment of the land as a link to the employment relationship between a lords and peasants. The characteristic of rights and duties combination is that in the manor of social relations which is between the oligarch and peasant political relations. Manor system has an important influence on the evolution of British social history. It provide convenience to the formation of private land property rights in Britain, the management of Agricultural Capitalism, the solution of the farmers problems It also make the British political change have the characteristics of elite struggle. The rule of law and the tradition of local autonomy are also derived from manor system.
