The idea of Eurasian union (EU) was proposed by the President of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev in 1994, but it did not get the attention of the CIS countries at that time. In October 2011, the then-Prime Minister of Russia, Vladimir Putin, as a presidential candidate, published a signed article. In this article, he proposed the strategic conception about building Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) on the basis of customs union and Eurasian unified economy and developing for the regional integration of the EU at last. In May 2012, Vladimir Putin started his third term as President of Russia, immediately launched intensive diplomatic activities in post-soviet space, promoted regional economic integration.Eurasianism, as a view of Geopolitics, was born in the 1920s, went through 3 different stages, it brought enormous influences on the history of Russia. The basic idea of eurasianism is:due to the unique geographical location, Russia neither belongs to Europe, nor to Asia, it is an unique Eurasian civilization, Russia should find its own unique way of development. This is the main theory source of Russian Eurasian union strategy. The recovery of the Russian comprehensive national power, the strategic shift of USA and the cooperation between Russia and other CIS countries, also were realistic backgrounds of Russian Eurasian union strategy. At the end of 2013, Ukraine crisis resulted in deteriorating the Russia-Ukraine relationship, Ukraine is fading away from Eurasian union further. At the same time, the western sanctions and the fall of international energy prices lead Russian economy into a serious crisis, and the crisis has spread to other CIS countries. In the serious geopolitical and economic situation, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan launched the Eurasian Economic Union on January 1,2015. Armenia, Kyrgyzstan subsequently joined the union, Tajikistan has also became the candidate country. Facing the current complex internal and external situation, the construction of the Eurasian union has both opportunities and challenges. In September 2013, the leader of China Xi Jinping proposed the idea of "Silk Road Economic Belt" on his speech in Nazarbayev University. Compared with the Eurasian Union strategy, they have many things in common, such as geographical coverage and economic goals, but the differences of the ways of cooperation and ultimate goals should be seen either. Because of the similarities and differences between them, cooperations and competitions are coexist between China and Russia. This paper is on the basis of previous scholar research results and fruitfully discusses the background, goal, advancing process of Eurasian Union strategy. This paper comments the opportunities and challenges facing and analysis the impact on China from multiple perspectives.
