It is a common phenomenon among countries around the world that the population is aging.China has already fallen into the population aging society at the beginning of 21 th Century, and Guangzhou has become the city of moderate aging population. Under these circumstances, family support and existing bead houses are insufficient, facing the rapidly growing number of the senior. This is especially true in cities where family normally consists of four grandparents, two parents and one child, which makes it more difficult for the youth to take care of the senior.Facing this situation, urban community service for the senior model in foreign countries has caught the eyes of our government and society, which takes the advantages of family care services and institutions so that the elderly can receive services provided by the community without having to leave their familiar living environment. This model can not only meet the spiritual and material needs of the elderly, but also improve the quality of life of the elderly without increasing the pressure of family members to take care of the elderly. This paper takes a typical old block in Guangzhou, that is, the South West Road, as an example. Through analyzing the problems this block has faced in providing services for the senior and the demand of the senior for community services, meanwhile incorporating experience and theories, empirical study has been conducted on urban community service for the senior model in Guangzhou. Combining the successful experience in foreign countries with the reality of Guangzhou in services for the senior, suggestions and strategies on urban community service for the senior model are put forward. Urban community service for the senior model can not only better cope with the problem of taking care of the senior in cities with aging population, provide quality social services, but also improve China’s social security system. Therefore, this model is suitable according to China’s national conditions.
