The Theory And Practice Of Public Diplomacy In Overseas Chinese Affairs

In recent years, the foreign body becomes much richer, as a result, public diplomacy has emerged as a new subject and is paid worldwide attention. Overseas Chinese public diplomacy, as an important component of China’s overall diplomacy, flourishes under the circumstances when more and more Chinese settle down abroad and plays a significant part in the development of China’s overall diplomacy. The author, by analysing the definitions of overseas Chinese diplomacy, studies the case of Shunde district, which has rich overseas Chinese resources. By investigating the ways of Shunde in carrying out public diplomacy and its effects, the author attempts to give suggestions on how to promote public diplomacy and to build a healthier national image.
